National contractor hires local industry icon and opens new office in San Francisco to lead and expand the company’s presence in the West
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Suffolk Construction, one of the most successful, privately held building contractors in the country, announced today it has hired construction industry icon Andrew Ball as its new president of the West region. Suffolk will also open a new office in San Francisco which will allow the organization to strengthen its foothold and expand opportunities for future growth in the West.

Andy Ball is the former CEO of San Mateo-based Webcor Builders. Under his leadership, Webcor grew to become one of the Bay Area’s largest and most respected building contractors with more than $1.4 billion of revenue during the peak of construction in 2007. Webcor was also recognized as one of the “greenest” contractors in the country. Ball eventually sold the company in 2007 to Japan’s Obayashi Corporation.
