Launches four new major product releases, strengthening Performance, Scalability and Stability of its OpenFusion CORBA product suite
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- PrismTech™, a global leader in standards-based, performance-critical middleware, today announced its long term commitment to delivering high-performance CORBA® products starting with the availability of four new major performance upgrades to its highly successful OpenFusion® CORBA product suite.
PrismTech has been a member of the standards body for CORBA, the Object Management Group™ (OMG™), for nearly two decades and has distinguished itself in the CORBA middleware industry for over twelve years with its OpenFusion product suite. OpenFusion provides the most comprehensive range of CORBA products available from any vendor with best of breed commercial support packages for Open Source ORBs as well as highly specialized ORBs for embedded and real-time applications.
PrismTech defines itself by its responsiveness to customer needs and its ability to enable small and large CORBA users to realize the commercial benefits of Open Source. PrismTech understands that CORBA is still very valuable to its users and so it continues to invest. PrismTech is very aware of the uncertainty in the CORBA market currently, with disinvestment in development by some commercial CORBA vendors. It is for this reason that PrismTech is reaffirming its commitment to CORBA for all users.
In support of this Committed to CORBA strategy, PrismTech today launches new versions of its market leading products:
- OpenFusion TAO v2.1 (C++ ORB),
- OpenFusion JacORB v3.0 (Java ORB),
- OpenFusion CORBA Services v5.0 (Java COS),
- OpenFusion I-DBC (CORBA Security).
All new products benefit from the latest features and enhancements available in Open Source. PrismTech has delivered additional performance enhancements, extensive open source bug fixing, platform specific testing and extensive quality assurance processes to deliver to our customers code ready for development and deployment. PrismTech customers therefore gain the benefits of commercial quality code, but without the need to pay license fees.
PrismTech's OpenFusion releases provide strong reasons for CORBA users currently using commercially licensed ORBs to look at the very significant cost savings that can be achieved by using commercially supported Open Source software. PrismTech has helped many organizations, even those with massively deployed CORBA-based applications, to realize cost savings which can typically be in excess of 40%.
Ian Thomas, SVP of PrismTech’s OpenFusion business unit states, “As many of PrismTech’s customers are requesting that PrismTech support them and their mission or business critical applications for a further ten and in some cases twenty years, we wish to let our customers and the market know that we remain committed to supporting the CORBA community and will do so for many years ahead.”
