QinetiQ North America Releases Version 2.0 of its Aviation Data Trainer™ Application

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North America (QNA) today announced that an updated version of its popular Aviation Data Trainer application is available now on the iTunes Store. The application provides air traffic controllers, pilots, airport staff and flight enthusiasts a way to memorize and test themselves on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) data sets, or codes, which are the core of air operations around the world.

The Aviation Data Trainer application is a subset of the complete Air Traffic Management (ATM) suite of training applications designed by QNA, and uses the common 'learn-play-test' methodology to assist the users in memorizing the data. It includes updated data sets for hundreds of airports, telephony codes and airline and aircraft identifiers in North America, Europe and around the world.

Version 2.0 will benefit air traffic control students globally. It provides a configurable interface that allows users to download specific data sets from different regions around the world, tailoring the tool to their specific locality. It allows users to learn codes at their own pace using configurable flash cards and tests to evaluate and measure progression and games to test memory. The application is free to download beginning October 1, 2012, and each of the regional data sets can be downloaded for a nominal fee.

"There has been a great deal of interest in the Aviation Data Trainer application in the U.S. and around the world," said John Radziszewski, executive vice president and general manager of QinetiQ North America's Software and Systems Engineering business unit."This new version is faster, has more features and is easier to use. It provides a simple and innovative training solution for current and future air traffic controllers."
