Rand Construction Corporation executive one of two named as 2012 Director of the Year
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Global professional services company Towers Watson (NYSE, NASDAQ: TW) today announced that Linda D. Rabbitt, the company’s lead director on its board of directors, has been recognized by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) for exceptional performance by directors in the boardroom. Ms. Rabbitt is one of two directors who will receive the 2012 Director of the Year Award during the NACD Directorship 100 Forum, to be held in November in New York.
“We are very pleased that the NACD has chosen to recognize Linda for her exemplary service in the boardroom,” said John Haley, chairman and chief executive officer of Towers Watson. “Linda is an outstanding director. Since joining our board 10 years ago, she has continually brought valuable insights to our board, and has served our company, executives and shareholders extremely well. We congratulate her for receiving this tremendous honor.”
Ms. Rabbitt has served as a director of Towers Watson since the January 1, 2010 merger of Watson Wyatt and Towers Perrin. She previously served as a director of Watson Wyatt from 2002 to 2009, and is the founder and chief executive officer of Rand Construction Corporation, a commercial construction company founded in 1989 that specializes in building renovation and tenant build-outs.
The NACD also named Bill Ayer, Chairman, Alaska Air Group and Puget Sound Energy, as a 2012 Director of the Year, while Jack Lowe, Jr., Chairman, Zale Corporation and TD Industries, will receive the NACD’s B. Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award (NACD’s highest accolade). The award recipients will be feted during a gala dinner at the NACD Directorship 100 Forum, held November 27 in New York City.
“These directors are being recognized by their peers for their exemplary work in corporate governance and service to their companies, their executive teams and their shareholders,” said NACD president and CEO Ken Daly. “This group sets the right tone with their colleagues, brings valuable insights to the board table, consistently leads by example, and we are honored to recognize each of them as the ‘best in the boardroom.’”
For 25 years, the NACD Director of the Year and B. Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Awards have recognized distinguished individual directors who serve as role models in promoting exemplary board leadership, oversight excellence and courage in the boardroom. Nominees are evaluated on four key categories: integrity, mature confidence, informed judgment and high-performance standards.
