ADS Hosts Congressional Visit

Jobs and Company Growth Key Points

HILLIARD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH) met with Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) Chairman and CEO, Joe Chlapaty, to discuss how the company's products are helping rebuild the country's infrastructure. Stivers, a longtime advocate of programs that promote job creation, also learned about ADS' growth during the past several years that created more jobs throughout the United States for the 3,500 person company. ADS designs and manufactures pipe and other products used in municipal storm and sanitary sewers, waste disposal facilities, highway and agricultural drainage projects.

“I've always known about ADS and frequently see its black pipe with the green stripe on many road projects,” Rep. Stivers said. “While this product can last over 100 years, which means it doesn’t have to be replaced every 10 years at taxpayers’ expense, it was finding out more about how ADS is building plants and creating jobs that was uplifting. This was especially true since during the past 12 years manufacturing companies have cut more than 30 percent of their workers. I hope other companies will reverse that trend and follow ADS' lead.”

Serving the 15th Congressional District of Ohio, Congressman Stivers' visit on September 4, 2012 was part of his program to gain insight into successful companies in his district and learn more about ADS’ long-life, cost-effective products that benefit the country’s infrastructure.

A key topic of discussion was ADS’ initiative to invest more than $10 million to build, expand and modernize manufacturing plants in the Midwest. “We greatly appreciate Congressman Stivers spending time with us," stated Chlapaty. “His interest in adding more jobs in Ohio and helping businesses prosper is important to all of us."

During the past two years, acquisitions and heightened product demand enabled ADS to grow despite the nation's recent tough economic times.

“ADS has manufacturing facilities in every region of the country, as well as throughout the Western Hemisphere, making us the largest corrugated pipe producer in the world,” Chlapaty explained. “Expanding our manufacturing capacity enhances the ability to provide customers with a full range of water management products needed to increase crop yields and meet the demand for pipe and structures used in infrastructure projects.”

“It is critical at this time that Congress enact policies, which allow success, so companies such as ADS can continue to create jobs and solve their customers' problems,” Rep. Stivers said. “Those policies include pro-growth tax policies, not big tax increases. It was evident from my visit that innovative products that exceed expectations coupled with excellent customer service and an expedient delivery system are what allows companies such as ADS to prosper even in a down economy. I truly thank Joe and his staff for providing me with a comprehensive look at the way ADS does business.”

ADS is the world’s largest producer of corrugated high-density polyethylene pipe and is headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio. It has a global network of 55 domestic and international manufacturing plants and 27 regional distribution centers plus engineering support and customer service groups. In addition to its flagship N-12® pipe, the company offers a complete line of fittings and other accessories including StormTech® stormwater chambers, Nyloplast® drainage structures and various geotextiles.
