SCAN Health Plan Arizona Announces 2013 Benefits for Maricopa and Pima Counties

New for 2013: No Copayment for PCP Office Visits

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SCAN Health Plan Arizona announced today its 2013 benefit package for Maricopa and Pima counties, which includes primary care physician office visits with no copayments beginning Jan. 1. In addition, SCAN will continue to offer its Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD) with no monthly premiums and no deductibles.

“Affordability and access to high-quality care is important to everyone these days, especially the seniors and others we serve,” said Elizabeth Russell, CEO of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. “In keeping with our not-for-profit mission, we’ve worked hard to develop an outstanding benefit package that we believe addresses seniors’ concerns, wants and needs when it comes to their healthcare.”

SCAN’s 2013 benefits program, which is expressly designed to keep Medicare-eligible residents in Maricopa and Pima counties healthy and independent, also includes Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program at no extra charge. Routine medical transportation services are also included.

SCAN Health Plan Arizona members will continue to receive all of the basic benefits traditionally covered under Medicare as well as a prescription drug benefit (Medicare Part D). SCAN members must pay their Medicare Part B monthly premium established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, but will not be charged an additional monthly premium. Specific information on SCAN’s 2013 benefit offerings is available at www.scanhealthplan.com/arizona/mapd.

Unlike most Medicare Advantage plans, SCAN has no commercial members. That allows the health plan to dedicate 100 percent of its energy and programs toward serving people with Medicare across the wide spectrum of aging. Its focus is to provide affordable and accessible quality healthcare to seniors and to continue to look for innovative ways to serve Medicare members’ healthcare needs. With 130,000 members in Arizona and California, SCAN is one of the largest not-for-profit health plans of its type in the nation.

The annual enrollment period for selecting a Medicare Advantage plan for 2013 runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, 2012. During this time seniors and others on Medicare may choose to switch their health plan or move from traditional Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (or move back to Original Medicare) with their new elections taking effect Jan. 1, 2013.

SCAN Health Plan Arizona is a Medicare Advantage Organization with a Medicare contract. Individuals must have both Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B to enroll. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium. Members may enroll in the plan only during specific times of the year. The benefit information provided is a brief summary, not a complete description of benefits.
