WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of former United States Representative Pete Hoekstra for election to the U.S. Senate from Michigan. Rep. Hoekstra is running against incumbent Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).
“Vigilance on cutting deficits and reducing the debt has never been more essential,” said CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz. “Taxpayers need friends in Washington who will defend their interests, not the special interests. That is why the CCAGW PAC is supporting Rep. Hoekstra, who is a bona fide fiscal conservative committed to reducing the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.”
Rep. Hoekstra served Michigan with distinction as a member of the House of Representatives for 18 years. His lifetime rating with CCAGW of 86 percent earned him the rank of “Taxpayer Hero” and certifies that he is a principled advocate for lower taxes and smaller government. In 2010, Rep. Hoekstra’s last year in the House, he received a rating of 100 percent and was designated a “Taxpayer Super Hero.”
On the other hand, Rep. Hoekstra’s opponent, Sen. Stabenow, received a score of 8 percent in the CCAGW 2011 Congressional Ratings and has an abysmal lifetime rating of 12 percent, earning the rank of “Hostile to Taxpayers.” Sen. Stabenow’s ratings demonstrate continued support for policies that promote higher taxes and profligate spending, which have placed the country on a path to fiscal ruin.
“Throughout his career in politics, former Rep. Hoekstra has proven to be a leader on fiscal issues. As a U.S. senator, he will ease the burden of a cumbersome, bloated federal government. On November 6, 2012, voters in Michigan should support Rep. Hoekstra so that he can fight for fiscally conservative principles that will be vital to taxpayers in the 113th Congress. The state cannot afford another six years with Debbie Stabenow in the Senate. She has been antagonistic to the interests of taxpayers throughout her tenure in Washington,” concluded Schatz.
CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
