SymphonyIRI’s JP Beauchamp to Reveal Strategies for Appealing to Target Shopper Segments at 2012 LEAD Marketing Conference

WHAT:

To gain insight into shopper behaviors, SymphonyIRI has studied and segmented shoppers by their attitudes and behaviors. Understanding the characteristics and values of these unique segments will allow manufacturers and retailers to hone their messaging and conduct precisely targeted outreach to appeal to one or more key groups.

JP Beauchamp will lead a session at Shopper Technology Institute’s 2012 LEAD Marking Conference, entitled “Understanding and Activating Shoppers in the 21st Century,” in which he will share the latest insights into shopper behavior based on economic outlook and digital usage and attitudes. He will dispense essential knowledge that manufacturers and retailers need to successfully motivate shoppers. Beauchamp will also provide concrete solutions for executing shopper activation programs to effectively engage target consumers.

In order to illustrate and support his key points, Beauchamp will examine the six shoppers segments SymphonyIRI has identified and highlight the unique characteristics of each, including general attitudes, median incomes and median ages. He will then offer strategies for singling out the groups that present the greatest marketing opportunities and provide and an in-depth assessment of how to effectively target each group.
Beauchamp will be joined by Willis Duran, director of Audience Targeting Sales for AOL.

WHY:

Shopper behavior varies drastically across various population segments. Some segments have been deeply impacted by economic volatility, and seek low prices above all else; other segments rely heavily on new technologies, and are motivated by mobile advertisements and social media promotions. With an understanding of each segment’s values and economic perceptions, manufacturers and retailers will be able to use segmentation data to identify key shopper segments and successfully target shoppers at the household level.
