-- Simple Steps To A Healthier Life® Program available at no additional cost to members --
HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Beginning today, Aetna (NYSE: AET) is making its Simple Steps To A Healthier Life® Program available to policy-holders of AARP® Essential Premier Health Insurance, insured by Aetna. The online program, which is already available to Aetna’s employer customers, includes a simple health assessment to help members understand their current health and possible health risks. The program also features online wellness coaching programs to help members:
- Get in shape
- Eat healthier
- Lose weight
- Quit smoking
- Cope better with stress
“We’re pleased to provide our AARP Essential Premier Health Insurance members with the opportunity to participate in the Simple Steps To A Healthier Life Program,” said Ann Bryan, Vice President and head of the AARP-branded program at Aetna. “A person’s health status can change as they age. This program can help members gain a solid understanding of their health status, identify opportunities for them to achieve their optimal health, and provide the tools and resources to help them achieve realistic health goals.”
Take 20 minutes to improve your health
Before starting a new health and wellness program, it’s important that members know their current health. As part of the health assessment, members will be asked questions about their health history and health habits. Health assessment responses are confidential; however, Aetna does use the information to identify members who may need nurse outreach.
Once the health assessment is complete, members will receive personalized reports based on their results. The reports can help members to:
- Uncover health risks they may not be aware of
- Identify health concerns that need more attention
- Create an action plan to reduce their risks for certain diseases and conditions, and stay healthy
Members can print and share the reports with their doctor, or create customized goals for their personal use.
AARP Essential Premier Health Insurance members can access the Simple Steps To A Healthier Life Program through www.AARPAetnaNavigator.com, Aetna’s secure member website.
“Understanding and maintaining good health is important to America’s 50 plus population. We’re pleased that the benefits of this health and wellness program will now be extended to AARP members who are AARP Essential Premier policy-holders,” said David Mathis, Senior Vice President of Health Product and Services at AARP Services, Inc.”
