From farm to pint glass, women are fighting their way to become some of the most influential people in the craft beer world. Portland-based filmmaker Alison Grayson fell in love with the Oregon craft beer community, but noticed a disproportionate number of female beer consumers to female brewers.
"There are very few women who are actually working in the beer industry, but the ones who do are inspiring and passionate," said filmmaker Alison Grayson. "The Love of Beer was created to celebrate the lives of the amazing women in the craft beer industry and take a deeper look at why there aren't more women involved in the industry and how that can be changed."
Historically, brewing was a woman's household chore until it evolved a male-dominated field following the Industrial Revolution. Today, craft brewing has even become a hobby at home. Erica Shea and Stephen Valand of the Brooklyn Brew shop are just one example of the recent popularity of home brewing. The couple is profiled in the current edition of Dark Rye, a Whole Foods Market online magazine.

Do Something Reel, which kicked off on Earth Day, is an ongoing collection of provocative films about food and environmental issues that can be purchased and streamed at various digital platforms.
