Empowered UCLA Extension Teams Up With Intel to Support Retiring Workers

New program focused on helping retiring employees transition to encore careers with job-centric education and career counseling

CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Empowered UCLA Extension will collaborate on a groundbreaking new program to help assist Intel Corporation’s retiring workers transition to encore careers. Intel will fund the program for its employees, so that Intel workers can take full advantage of the professional education and counseling provided by Empowered UCLA Extension.

Empowered UCLA Extension – a collaboration between UCLA Extension and Empowered Careers – is a nationwide online education program specifically designed for baby boomers seeking to make a career change, get ahead professionally or get back into the workforce.

“This is an extremely insightful and forward thinking move by Intel,” said Empowered co-founder and CEO Steve Poizner. “Intel is essentially giving back to their retiring employees and rewarding them for their years of service by fully funding an educational and career counseling program that allows the employee to define the 'second act' in their career.”

Intel becomes the first corporate member of the Empowered UCLA Extension Program, a one stop credible source for updating employees’ skill sets, helping train employees nearing retirement, or entering into a second career.

“Intel strives to be a great place to work and provides unique opportunities for all of its employees,” said Amber Wiseley, Intel U.S. Retirement Benefits. “We know our employees have the skills and passion to continue on into an encore career and this program can help them with that transition.”
