Stonesoft Demonstrates True Threat of Advanced Evasion Techniques at SC Congress

Live demonstration will show breaches to leading firewalls in 30 seconds

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Security market visionary Stonesoft announced today it will demonstrate advanced evasion techniques that can breach leading security systems during the SC Congress New York event on October 11, 2012. AETs are any evasive hacking techniques that allow an intruder to bypass security detection during a network-based attack.

The vulnerabilities have been identified as a direct result of significant investments in researching advanced evasion techniques (AETs).

“The sophistication of cyber threats is advancing at a rapid pace and most organizations are unprepared,” said Richard Benigno, senior vice president of Stonesoft, North America. “AETs pose a major risk to anyone that considers their data valuable.”

With the recent, very public-facing incidents at large financial institutions, Benigno says network security vulnerabilities are at the forefront of issues facing security professionals.

“When we demonstrate how easy it is to deliver a malicious payload past most leading vendor end point solutions, most demand to know how it can be solved,” said Benigno. “We will also be demonstrating our new Evasion Prevention System at the show, which is a robust solution to AETs. Proper network security architectures including intrusion prevention, network firewalling and advanced evasion technique detection and suppression are more critical than ever to protect card-holder data and proprietary financial information.”

Stonesoft will be demonstrating an AET attack to attendees of the show during a session scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on October 11, 2012.

Stonesoft was recently placed in the Visionaries Quadrant of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). In addition, NSS Labs confirmed that the Stonesoft IPS-1302 provides 100 percent protection against all tested evasion techniques and a low total cost of ownership (TCO) during real-world traffic and threat scenarios.
