FirstFuel Software Named to 2012 Global Cleantech 100 List

Listing Honors the World’s Most Innovative Private Cleantech Companies

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- FirstFuel Software, the commercial building energy analytics company, today announced it has been selected from more than 8,000 nominated companies worldwide as one of this year’s Global Cleantech 100. FirstFuel was recognized for its remote energy auditing software innovation and commitment to the development of scalable building energy efficiency.

The full list of 100 companies was released at yesterday evening’s Global Cleantech 100 Summit & Gala in Washington, D.C. Produced by the Cleantech Group, a leading global research and advisory firm focused on innovation in energy and the environment, the Global Cleantech 100 list highlights the promise of private clean technology companies from all around the world, focusing on those judged likely to make the most significant market impact over the next five to 10 years.

“FirstFuel’s technology is already beginning to revolutionize the way that utilities approach commercial building energy efficiency,” said Swapnil Shah, co-founder and CEO, FirstFuel Software. “To be named as one of this year’s Global Cleantech 100 companies is a great honor and another recognition of the value of our work.”

This year, 8,285 companies from 85 countries were nominated to the Global Cleantech 100 list. 236 finalist companies then presented to a panel of 75 cleantech industry experts for final input. The end result was the selection of 100 companies from 13 countries.

“The Global Cleantech 100 is a natural extension of our companywide mission to help corporations, investors and financiers, professional service firms and governmental agencies connect with global cleantech innovation,” said Sheeraz Haji, Cleantech Group CEO. “This report celebrates the best in innovation and is the industry standard on gauging where cleantech innovation is headed next.”

The 75-member expert panel is drawn principally from leading financial investors in North America, Asia, and Europe and from representatives of multi-national corporations. The expert panel is designed to be broadly representative of the global cleantech community and includes pioneers, leaders, veterans, and new entrants in cleantech resulting in a list of companies that command a broad base of respect and support from many important players within the global cleantech innovation ecosystem, not just insiders. Past honorees include innovative and successful clean technology companies such as Opower, Enphase, eMeter, Trilliant and Zipcar.

Qualifying organizations to this year’s list were independent, for-profit, cleantech companies not yet listed on any major stock exchange.
