Tests show up to 25 percent improvement in throughput execution and lower database utilization with SQL Server 2012 powering RedPrairie solutions
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- RedPrairie Corporation, a global supply chain and retail technology provider, announced significant performance improvements of RedPrairie solutions running on Microsoft SQL Server 2012, following recent benchmark testing. As a Microsoft Global Industry independent software vendor (ISV) and SQL Server 2012 Global Partner, RedPrairie confirmed that Microsoft’s next generation, cloud-ready platform delivered the higher levels of performance, scalability and reliability required to support the mission-critical requirements of the world’s largest retail and supply chain companies.
RedPrairie worked with Microsoft engineers to test its solutions on SQL Server 2012 in advance of the platform’s global launch. The team designed separate benchmark tests for RedPrairie Commerce Suite, a channel-agnostic solution that enables retailers to consistently present their brands and establish touch points with consumers from intention through to transaction and beyond, and for RedPrairie Workforce Management, a single, integrated suite of applications that drive workforce productivity and effectiveness across the enterprise. Emulating real-world, enterprise-class workloads running on industry-standard hardware in a lab setting, the team reported 21 to 25 percent improvements in throughput execution across a range of tests and lower database utilization with SQL Server 2012 over SQL Server 2008 R2.
“Our most recent benchmarks prove that SQL Server 2012 is an outstanding end-to-end platform for RedPrairie customers seeking excellent performance, scalability and value for their mission-critical requirements,” said John Kopcke, chief technology officer and executive vice president of product development at RedPrairie. “As Microsoft evolves its SQL Server platform, RedPrairie is keeping the pace. We’re scaling out our solutions and enhancing our functionality so that our customers can readily take advantage of SQL Server’s powerful new capabilities that help drive business impact in enterprise-class environments.”
RedPrairie engineers also gave high marks to new advancements within SQL Server 2012, including support for hybrid IT requirements across traditional data centers and in the cloud as well as SQL Server AlwaysOn, the integrated, high availability and disaster recovery solution.
“With companies needing to optimize their computing resources, lower their capital investment and more cost-effectively support both peak and slow transaction periods, we’re seeing increased interest for hosted, cloud-based versions of RedPrairie solutions,” said Kopcke. “SQL Server 2012 addresses these requirements for on-demand capabilities while also enabling companies to minimize planned and unplanned downtime for maximum application availability and data protection.”
“As evidenced by our alliance with RedPrairie, Microsoft is making a long-term commitment to supporting the demanding, mission-critical needs of our supply chain and retail customers,” said Colin Masson, worldwide managing director, ERP and Supply Chain Solutions, Microsoft Corp. “Whether they are running large-scale data centers or needing to scale on demand across server, private or public cloud, we are enabling our customers to manage and analyze any data, regardless of size, anywhere and at a lower total cost of ownership than competing solutions can deliver.”
“RedPrairie has a long history of efficiently running its solutions on Microsoft SQL Server,” concluded Kopcke. “Given our history of success, we are committed to continuing to provide adaptable retail and supply chain execution solutions that support the Microsoft SQL platform.”
