ALEKS Online Reporting Assists Educators with Effective, Data-Driven Instruction

Simple Navigation of Detailed Student Data

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ALEKS Corporation, a leading provider of web-based learning and assessment solutions for mathematics, science, and business courses, offers online reporting through an optimized Reports page that displays student data in an easy to navigate, visual format. ALEKS online reports provide detailed student performance information that is continuously updated in real-time. The Reports page makes it easy to quickly review ALEKS reports and compare data at the class and individual student levels.

“My colleagues and I tend to think visually,” notes William Wilson, a teacher at Mt. Pisgah Middle School in Tennessee. “With the visually descriptive Reports page, we get an accurate representation of exactly what type of student data we can pull, which makes it much easier to find the information we need. I like to use the reports to compare class and individual student data, and the Reports page provides me with direct access to this. In just a few clicks, I can view each student’s progress, and then quickly look at the class report if I want to get more of a bird’s eye view.”

The visual format of the ALEKS Reports page includes a dashboard of icons, representing ALEKS reports available to instructors – ALEKS Pie, Progress Bar, Time and Topic, Knowledge Per Slice, Assignments, Standards, and QuickTables. This enables instructors to quickly identify the information they would like to review. For example, under “ALEKS Pie,” instructors can access one of the most popular ALEKS class reports – a pie chart that summarizes students’ average progress in a course, including mastered, not mastered, and Ready to Learn Topics. Another example, by selecting “Progress Bar,” instructors can view each student’s learning progress within various time intervals.

Instructors can click on the “Class” or “Individual” links below an icon to view the desired version of the selected report. This increased functionality makes it easy to determine overall class or student strengths and weaknesses, while also informing one-on-one and small group instruction to target knowledge gaps.

“There is an amazing amount of information available,” said Maria Sanchez, who teaches at DeRidder Junior High School in Louisiana. “I can see an overview of class progress or access detailed reports on how each student is performing. It is easy to see where I need to concentrate my instruction using the data that ALEKS provides.”

ALEKS reports provide a wealth of data to help educators efficiently monitor student progress toward classroom and standards goals, and personalize instruction to ensure greater learning outcomes.
