Former Tetra Pak NA CEO and P&G’s Open Innovations Leader Join Sustainable Packaging Company
OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ecologic Brands, makers of America’s first molded paper bottles, announced today the appointment of two distinguished business leaders to its Advisory Board: Alan Murray, Chief Executive Officer of NextFoods, and Dr. Steve Meller, Chief Innovation Catalyst at P&G. The additions reinforce a positive outlook for the sustainable packaging industry, showing that a small, innovative sustainable packaging company can attract powerful executives from the packaging and consumer packaged goods industries.
“As we transition from a startup to a scaled, packaging manufacturing company, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Murray and Dr. Meller to our board,” Ecologic Brands CEO and Founder Julie Corbett said. “Today's announcement is a testament to the growing demand for packaging that use our planet’s limited resources more efficiently. We look forward to drawing from Alan and Steve’s expertise and experience at recognized global, consumer-facing companies.”
Alan Murray, the former CEO of Tetra Pak North America, has more than 30 years of experience in the food & beverage industry. He has a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in the production, manufacturing, and management of perishable goods and packaging. Tetra Pak is the world leader of aseptic processing and packaging systems for the food industry, with sales of approximately $13 billion. Mr. Murray also held leadership roles with Tetra Pak in Southern Africa, Central Europe, and the United States, as well as marketing roles at Unilever in Africa and Europe. In his current role at NextFoods, Mr. Murray spearheads all business development, strategic planning, and management of the GoodBelly brand, and played an integral role in the founding of the company.
“I am very pleased to join other members of the Ecologic Brands Board, and help guide the company as it grows and scales its operations,” said Mr. Murray.
Dr. Steve Meller is a results-orientated leader with more than 25 years of technical and innovation knowledge experience, particularly in open innovation and sustainability. In his role at P&G, he serves as Chief Innovation Catalyst and has been responsible for leading the global technology innovators and entrepreneurs “community of experts”, the North American and Latin America open innovation hubs, and several key business and technology platforms across the company. P&G has been recognized as one of the most innovative companies in the world during the last decade. In addition, Dr. Meller has been a key driver on the technology strategy approaches for P&G’s Sustainability and Industrial Biotechnology programs and its impact on global consumers.
“I am thrilled to join Ecologic Brands,” said Dr. Meller. “I believe this company is at the forefront of packaging innovation, and my experience with global innovation will help identify additional growth opportunities and consumer touch-points as the company expands domestically and abroad.”
