NavigationArts Uses Responsive Design Approach to Engage Drexel University Students No Matter the Location or Device

Drexel University Partners with NavigationArts to Design High-Impact New Site Architecture

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NavigationArts, a full-service digital consultancy is thrilled to announce the launch of a redesigned website for Drexel University. Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Drexel University is the nation’s 14th largest private university and is ranked among the best national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Drexel is widely recognized for its focus on experiential learning through its co-operative education program and translational research initiatives.

NavigationArts’ solution was refined through collaboration between IA, design, and development teams, resulting in a responsive design approach that seamlessly accommodates desktop, tablet, and mobile users.

NavigationArts delivered an engaging new visual design and front-end templates which Drexel implemented in Sitecore CMS. A blend of fixed and fluid layouts provided more control to the design and layout at larger “desktop” resolutions, while supporting the array of tablet and mobile resolutions at full screen width. The use of CSS3 allowed for smooth animations while a responsive strategy made for an engaging multi-device experience, one that targeted the key audience end user, the prospective Drexel student.

“The cutting-edge design of Drexel’s new website captures the essence of Drexel’s innovative, fast-paced urban culture and offers virtual visitors the opportunity to get a feel for the Drexel experience,” said Lori Doyle, Drexel’s Senior Vice President for University Communications. “Our collaboration with NavigationArts was successful in creating a site that reflects our strategic vision.”

Drexel University enlisted the help of NavigationArts to improve the look and feel of the core university site to attract prospective students and solidify their visual identity. Drexel’s goals also included promoting their renowned co-operative educational program based on alternating periods of academic study with six months of full-time professional employment. Drexel’s co-op program allows students to graduate with up to 18 months of professional experience in their field.

The redesigned Drexel University site’s responsive design enables students to access content and efficiently complete tasks in an ultra-mobile world. To view the responsive design, visit Drexel University.
