CCAGW PAC Endorses Josh Mandel for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel for election to the U.S. Senate. Mr. Mandel is running against Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).

“Vigilance on cutting deficits and reducing the debt has never been more essential,” said CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz. “Taxpayers need friends in Washington who will defend their interests, not the special interests. That is why the CCAGW PAC is supporting Mr. Mandel, who is a bona fide fiscal conservative committed to reducing the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.”

Josh Mandel has served the citizens of Ohio with distinction as treasurer. He has an outstanding record of fiscal discipline and fighting on behalf of Ohio taxpayers. In addition, by signing CCAGW’s No Pork Pledge, he has agreed that, should he be elected, he will not request pork-barrel earmarks. Candidates who swear off earmarking are sending an unmistakable signal that, once they get to Washington, they intend to pursue an agenda of fiscal responsibility to restore credibility to the budget process.

On the other hand, Sen. Brown, Mr. Mandel’s opponent, had 326 earmarks worth $490 million between 2008 and 2010, when members had their names attached to earmark requests. Rep. Brown also received a score of 5 percent in the CCAGW 2011 Congressional Ratings and has an abysmal lifetime rating of 3 percent, earning the rank of “Hostile to Taxpayers.” Rep. Brown’s ratings demonstrate continued support for policies that promote higher taxes and profligate spending, which have placed the country on a path to fiscal ruin.

“Throughout his career, Josh Mandel has proven to be a fiscally conservative leader. As a U.S. senator, he will ease the burden of a cumbersome, bloated federal government. He has the ability to improve the future economic outlook by fighting to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse on behalf of all Ohioans,” concluded Schatz.

CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
