Italy revises up 2011 debt/GDP ratio to 120.7 PCT from 120.1 PCT previously

ROME, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Official statistics agency ISTAT on Thursday revised up Italy's debt-to-gross-domestic-product ratio for 2011 to 120.7 percent instead of a previously reported 120.1 percent, which was issued in March.

ISTAT, which revised data for 2009-2011, slightly raised 2009 and 2010 debt figures, and said the deficit was marginally smaller than previously reported in 2010, at 4.5 percent instead of 4.6 percent.

Debt in 2010 was revised up to 119.2 percent of GDP from a previously reported 118.7, and 2009 was raised to 116.4 percent from 116.1 percent previously.

The annual GDP percentage changes for 2009-2011 were unrevised, ISTAT said.

The revisions were made "to improve the precision of the published data," ISTAT said, adding data that became available since March.

ISTAT gave the following revised data for annual GDP growth for 2009 to 2011. 2011 2010 2009 GDP 0.4 1.8 -5.5 DEFICIT/GDP 3.9 4.5* 5.4 DEBT/GDP 120.7* 119.2* 116.4* * indicates revision
