FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Strength in numbers is the unshakable power born when a group of individuals come together with a common goal. Together, smartphone case manufacturer OtterBox® and the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade are focused on preventing and ultimately finding a cure for breast cancer, as well as providing life-saving care to those who need it. As a fundraising partner of the Avon Foundation for Women, OtterBox has donated $1.3 million to help educate more than one million men and women in the United States on the importance of breast cancer screening and breast health since 2008.

“The Avon Foundation greatly appreciates OtterBox’s exceptional support of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in our 20th anniversary year as well as the enthusiastic commitment of OtterBox customers who buy the Commuter Series Pink is Strength cases,” Avon Foundation for Women President Carol Kurzig, said. “The life-saving funds OtterBox raises will help us support leading breast cancer education, access to care and research organizations across the United States.”

“This year we want to increase our donation from the sale of these limited edition Commuter Series cases,” OtterBox President and CEO Brian Thomas said. “At the same time, we want to inspire more people to spread the word because we believe strength in numbers will make the difference in the success of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and its mission.”

OtterBox will promote the concept of “strength in numbers” during the Avon Foundation Annual Awards Gala in New York City on Oct. 30, 2012, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Event attendees will be encouraged to collectively match a new OtterBox donation of $50,000.

OtterBox is also an official sponsor of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, a national series of inspiring weekend events where participants walk 39-miles over two days. The walks take place in eight cities across the United States, raising awareness, funds and encouragement for those battling breast cancer. OtterBox will participate in Avon Walk festivities in New York on Oct. 20-21, 2012 and Charlotte on Oct. 27-28, 2012.

The OtterBox Commuter Series Pink is Strength case line provides an all-encompassing solution for the style-minded smartphone user. The cases feature a sturdy pink polycarbonate shell that provides impact protection and a white silicone inner layer to dissipate impact away from the device. A clear self-adhering screen protector is provided to shield the display from scratches. All ports and buttons are protected by silicone to keep out dirt and dust, yet remain fully functional.*

Five percent of the purchase price from each case sold is donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. For more information, visit www.otterbox.com/strength.
