HIMSS Inspires Today’s Leaders to Solve Healthcare’s Challenges

With Healthcare Transformation Project, HIMSS brings together C-suite executives to transform their organization, and healthcare, with the best use of information technology and management systems

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The collaborative efforts of healthcare’s senior executives are contributing to the effective transition from paper to digital patient records. Building on this synergy, HIMSS introduces Healthcare Transformation Project to develop a committed community of healthcare provider senior leaders dedicated to positively transforming the quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and access to care at the local level. This interactive and innovative forum, with peer-to-peer discussion and debate, will be held from Nov. 14-16, at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

“Thanks to our research with C-suite leaders, we know they look for programs with actionable knowledgeable and tangible deliverables they can apply to their own healthcare settings,” said H. Healthcare Transformation Project offers year-round engagement with networking, community, events and research. In addition to the annual forum in November, members of the community will meet through virtual events and at HIMSS13 in New Orleans from March 3-7, 2013. Research released to the community through June 2013 will look at “IT’s Impact on Organizational Culture,” with a report scheduled for release at the November gathering.

In November, participants will hear from and work with Ken Jennings, PhD, ThirdRiver Partners, LLC, during a Meaningful Discussions Workshop with peer conversation and action plan development. Jennings is a respected healthcare strategist and futurist and author of two books, The Greater Goal and Changing Health Care.

At this first gathering of Healthcare Transformation Project, these C-suite leaders will have a unique chance to hear from others who are struggling with the same strategic questions. Then, they will be able to see how their peers address the situation, while at the same, try out their own ideas in a safe and energetic environment.”

At the forum, each member of this senior executive community can create a Commitment to Action by developing a plan of specific and measurable steps addressing an important challenge facing that individual’s health organization, stakeholder group or community. Supported by information technology, each action is driven by a guiding principle of transforming healthcare on a micro level, and it must be new, specific and measurable. Jennings explained participants will leave at the close of forum with a concrete plan anchored with the challenges identified at HTP and actionable when they get home.

The experiences at Healthcare Transformation Project focus on dialogue between participants and speakers. The event opens with dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 14, with speaker John Ellis “Jeb” Bush, 43rd governor of Florida. The agenda on Thursday, Nov. 15, offers insights on organizational transformation followed by a review of innovation and inspiration across the organization with Peter S Fine, FACHE, president and CEO, Banner Health, a leading healthcare provider in clinical excellence and innovation. Jennings leads the afternoon workshop, and then, dinner and the evening’s conversation with:
