DELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The first 10 entries for the Generation Kingspan Student Architectural Competition will qualify to win an Apple iPad.
Kingspan Insulated Panels North America announced today the addition of the iPad prize to the already $22,000 in prizes for the winning entries. In addition, the competition rules have been modified to permit competitors to change their design entries until midnight, Oct. 31, 2012. Previously, there was a 14-day restriction on modifications to an entry. Group entries are also now permitted, as well as individual entries.
These changes come as more than 45 people have already registered at www.GenerationKingspan.com for an account, a necessary step before entering the competition and the way students of architecture and design professionals interact regarding the competition. On Wednesday, the first entry had been submitted, leaving only nine more potential winners of the iPad.
Kingspan launched the competition in August to challenge emerging architects to create innovative, energy efficient, net-zero energy and sustainable designs with Insulated Metal Panels.
The main prizes will be split between a “popular” social voting winner and a judged winner. The Generation Kingspan on-line community gives contestants vying to win the social voting prizes an advantage for early submission of their design because they will have more time to gain social votes. The iPad prize adds an additional incentive.
The deadline for all entries in the Generation Kingspan competition is Oct. 31, 2012. Once all entries have been received a panel of experts will begin deliberations for the judged winner. The social voting winner will be the design entry that accumulates the most social voting badges.
Active now through November 7, 2012, social voting only occurs within the Generation Kingspan’s online community. This allows community members to assign badges to a design in one or more of the three main elements of the competition: design vision, sustainability and energy efficiency.
The Generation Kingspan competition will culminate with a Grand Prize winner selection in November at the Greenbuild 2012 International Conference and Exposition in San Francisco. The Grand Prize winner will be determined from the design that draws the most votes at the Kingspan booth during the show.
