Taiwan stocks end up; biotech, dept stores gain

TAIPEI, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Taiwan stocks ended 0.11 percent higher on Friday, with biotech

and department store shares the top gainers, up 1.48 percent and 0.89 percent respectively. The main TAIEX index rose 8.31 points to 7,690.65, after opening up 0.15 percent.

Electronics shares

were flat, while banking shares

gained 0.61 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up by T$0.140 to trade at T$29.248.

Foreign investors were net buyers on Thursday, bringing their total buying to T$7.7 billion this month.
