Hungary lifts 2012 deficit goal to 2.7 pct/GDP

BUDAPEST, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Hungary will raise its 2012 budget deficit target by 0.2 percentage point to 2.7 percent of GDP and freeze 133 billion Hungarian forints in the budget to keep the deficit at levels agreed with the European Union, the economy minister said.

Gyorgy Matolcsy also told a news conference on Friday that the measures were necessary to avert the loss of EU funds under the bloc's excessive deficit procedure under way against Hungary since 2004.
