GENBAND C20 IMS AGCF Solution Empowers Carriers to Deliver Ubiquitous Multimedia Services

Advanced solution enables seamless fixed access interworking with the IMS Core

RIO DE JANEIRO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today introduced the GENBAND C20™ Access Gateway Control Function (AGCF) as part of its best-in-class IMS solution. The new C20 AGCF enables operators to seamlessly leverage their IMS investments and deliver ubiquitous multimedia services across different access types, including broadband IP, legacy fixed and mobile access infrastructures.

“The C20 AGCF enables global carriers to quickly and cost-effectively offer advanced multimedia services by seamlessly migrating fixed subscribers to an IMS environment,” said Keith Landau, President of GENBAND’s Switching Business Unit. “Through rigorous interoperability testing with third-party IMS vendors, we have ensured that the C20 AGCF fits any network transformation and IMS approach. The C20 AGCF extends the openness and innovation of IMS across fixed access networks and provides a very economical alternative to expensive rip and replace upgrades.”

The unique ability of the C20 AGCF to simultaneously support non-IMS and IMS subscribers allows for a smooth and seamless line-by-line migration of subscribers, as well as assists operators in dismantling network fragmentation. The advanced GENBAND solution is compliant with IMS and other international standards, enabling its deployment in multivendor environments. The C20 AGCF also provides operators with value-added functionality and performance that is fully exploited when deployed with complementary infrastructure equipment and other best-in-class IMS solutions, including the GENBAND GENiUS™ Platform as well as GENBAND’s A2™ Communications Applications Server, S3™ Session Border Controller, G Series Gateways and Migration Services.

“GENBAND continues to enhance the business case for IP modernization by developing flexible solutions that maximize existing carrier infrastructure investments and extend revenue-generation capabilities,” said David Snow, principal analyst of IP Services Infrastructure at Current Analysis. “Many operators are reluctant to pour significant capital into the access portion of legacy fixed networks - the C20 AGCF provides a competitive solution for carriers looking to offer end-users the best possible services supported by their existing CPE and avoid expensive upgrades to access nodes.”

The GENBAND C20 AGCF is fully software-based, providing operators with unprecedented deployment flexibility. The C20 AGCF can be added as a software application on any existing GENBAND-deployed solution, including the GENiUS platform.
