National and Local Breast Care Experts Provide Comprehensive Continuing Education Program to the Chicago Medical Community at the Second Annual Chicago Breast Symposium, Oct. 13 & 14

CHICAGO, Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Midwest's largest breast cancer multidisciplinary continuing education event attracting over 300 health care professionals will take place this weekend at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago. The two-day event is co-sponsored by the Chicago Plastic Surgery Research Foundation, Inc., and Rosalind Franklin University. The conference brings together nationally renowned medical professionals, Chicago-area community breast cancer support groups, and cancer survivors to learn about the latest advances in diagnostics, genetics, cutting edge prophylactic and post-diagnosis surgical reconstruction options, and other newly studied therapies.

"Ensuring patients and their families have access to the most current and best possible local care and knowledge is the reason we created The Chicago Breast Symposium," said Loren S. Schechter, MD, FACS, Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Chicago Medical School, founding member of the Chicago Plastic Surgery Research Foundation and co-creator of The Chicago Breast Symposium. "By bringing together leaders in their respective breast care fields for dialogue, presentation and group discussion, we believe we are fostering a level of vital information exchange that will better serve the needs of the Chicago breast cancer community."

This year there will be approximately 20 peer-reviewed abstracts touching on both patient and professional aspects of breast care and breast cancer study. For a complete agenda and abstracts being shared at The 2012 Chicago Breast Symposium, please visit www.chicagobreastsymposium.com.
