National Organization for Human Services Honors Capella University PhD Student with Outstanding Human Service Student Award

Narketta Sparkman, who is earning a PhD in Human Services from the online university, will be honored at the upcoming NOHS conference in Milwaukee

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) has selected a PhD student of Capella University (http://www.capella.edu) to receive an Outstanding Human Service Student award. Narketta Sparkman, who is earning a PhD in Human Services from Capella, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, will be formally recognized with the award at the upcoming NOHS conference in Milwaukee. The award is presented to a student member of NOHS who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the field of human services. Specifically, Sparkman has presented on homosexuality at the Midwest Organization for Human Services (MWOHS) conference, and also serves on the board of the MWOHS. In addition, she is a founding member of the Tau Upsilon Alpha National Organization for Human Services Honor Society and is active in local community service projects through Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Lastly, she is a recipient of Capella’s Robert C. Ford scholarship, which is in honor of Dr. Robert C. Ford, who served as dean of the Capella University School of Human Services from 1997 until his death in 2001. The scholarship is awarded to Capella students who demonstrate academic and professional objectives reflective of Dr. Ford's mission to help people help themselves, while serving traditionally underserved and disadvantaged members of society.
