Equinix selects PT DCI as its data center partner to support customers' colocation needs in Indonesia
JAKARTA, Indonesia--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Equinix, Inc. (NASDAQ:EQIX), the global interconnection and data center company, and PT DCI, today announced a partnership to provide data center infrastructure and colocation services in Indonesia. PT DCI will build and operate a new data center in Jakarta, Indonesia, that will provide local and global customers with a full range of colocation, interconnection, support and monitoring services as part of Platform Equinix™.
The new data center will be built in multiple phases and will provide capacity for approximately 65,000 gross square feet and 1,250 cabinets when phase one is completed in Q1 2013. Through this partnership Equinix’s global customers can extend their market reach into Indonesia while enjoying a similar level of availability and reliability in Indonesia through PT DCI, as they do within the Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers. In addition, PT DCI customers will have access to Equinix’s secure, scalable and highly interconnected data centers in 38 strategic global markets. This allows companies to expand their data center footprint in Asia Pacific and across the globe. Platform Equinix also offers Indonesian customers a dynamic ecosystem and the broadest choice of networks that connect more than 4,000 enterprises, cloud, digital content and financial companies, including over 900 network service providers worldwide.
Equinix selected PT DCI as a partner because it is well connected with the local and international financial markets, and will provide customers with direct access to the Indonesia Internet Exchange. Equinix worked with PT DCI to ensure that the new data center meets the company’s stringent availability requirements and facility standards to deliver colocation services. To ensure a premier customer experience and service quality, Equinix will also provide ongoing operational support to Equinix customers. When completed, the PT DCI data center will connect to multiple telecommunication providers, network providers and carriers, to provide a wide range of network choice to customers.
Indonesia remains the largest economy in Southeast Asia and its government has created a favorable economic environment to support infrastructure development and growth in the near term. According to Frost and Sullivan, Indonesia has the highest number of Internet users in Southeast Asia with an Internet growth of 400 percent over the last five years and rapid adoption of mobile Internet.
“With Equinix’s best-in-class high performance data center services, we are confident that we will serve as the data center of choice for global enterprises looking to expand their footprint in Indonesia,” said Stephanus Tumbelaka, president director, PT DCI. “We are proud to be recognized by Equinix as Indonesia’s trusted provider and together, we commit to building a global data center footprint in the Indonesian market.”
