Strategy Analytics: Smartphone Apps Processor Growth Lifts Broadcom, MediaTek and ST-Ericsson in 1H 2012

MediaTek Surges to Number Three in Vendor Market Share

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Global smartphone applications processor market showed a robust 61 percent year-on-year growth in 1H 2012 to reach $5.5 billion, according to the Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service report, “Smartphone Apps Processor Market Share Q2 2012: Qualcomm Captures 48 Percent Revenue Share As Competition Intensifies.”

According to Strategy Analytics, Qualcomm maintained its dominance in the smartphone applications processor market with 48 percent revenue share in 1H 2012. However, the applications processor market saw the most intense competition yet during this period.

  • Qualcomm led the smartphone applications processor market in both unit and revenue terms in 1H 2012.
