Stoltenberg Future Fund Scholarship Awarded to CIO at Iowa-based Henry County Health Center

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Stoltenberg Consulting, Inc., a leading healthcare information technology consulting firm, announced today that Stephen Stewart, CHCIO, CIO at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa., a 25-bed critical access hospital, is the recipient of a $2,000 Stoltenberg Future Fund scholarship.

This scholarship is the fourth awarded from the Stoltenberg Future Fund program since its inception. A total of $50,000 has been pledged by Stoltenberg to the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Education Foundation over the next 25 years toward secondary education.

"I am grateful and honored to be awarded this scholarship," said Stewart. "To a small facility with limited budgets, this type of assistance is so appreciated because the knowledge and connections I gain at CHIME will be a tremendous asset to my work at Henry County Health Center."

The Stoltenberg 25-Year Future Fund Scholarship awards $2,000 scholarships annually to the CHIME Education Foundation to be used for any of CHIME's educational events, including its Healthcare CIO Boot Camp, Fall CIO Forum, CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum and LEAD Forums. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be CHIME members in good standing, express a need for financial support for continuing education and describe their professional goals in the healthcare IT industry.

"We are honored to support CIOs from across the country and provide the opportunity for them to attend the CHIME continued education events," said Sheri Stoltenberg, CEO of Stoltenberg Consulting. "Stoltenberg is dedicated to participating in the drive towards creating an innovative healthcare system and continued education is vital to achieving this goal. Through this and other programs, we will continue our support of CIOs in the healthcare industry and other current and future healthcare IT professionals."

Stoltenberg will also be sponsoring the CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp closing reception. The two-and-a-half-day boot camp is designed to educate healthcare IT professionals on the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful CIO.

"Stoltenberg's generosity and support gives CIOs the opportunity to join in continued education opportunities with other CIOs around the country," said CHIME President and CEO Richard A. Correll. "CHIME's educational opportunities can help CIOs take their skills and knowledge of the industry to the next level."
