LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska's corn and soybean harvest remains ahead of schedule but the drought is slowing winter wheat development.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday that the corn harvest is about two-thirds done and a month ahead of schedule. The soybean harvest is 71 percent done and about two weeks ahead of normal.
But last weekend's cold weather signaled the end of the 2012 growing season.
About 80 percent of Nebraska's winter wheat crop has been seeded, but less than one-third of the crop has emerged.
