Ohio Woman Enjoys Lunch, Enters Contest, Wins $4,000
Plans to Fulfill Donation “Wish,” Commitment to Cancer Research
AKRON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. decided to have some fun with a little play on the number "40" and give away $4,000 as the grand prize in its national “photo album” contest.
For Jamie Zychowski of Lakewood, Ohio, a lunchtime trip with a few co-workers to the restaurant in Downtown Akron – and her decision to enter the contest – paid off in a big way, as the Ohio woman and recent college graduate was presented today with a check for $4,000 as the national grand prize winner of the contest.
All told, Spaghetti Warehouse awarded $10,000 in cash and prizes as part of its anniversary-themed campaign, which features an online photo album on its website – 40years.meatballs.com.
Known as a unique gathering place for celebrations where families and friends get together to enjoy its freshly-flavored American Italian food, Spaghetti Warehouse operates 16 locations in Texas, Florida, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
Azam Malik, president and chief operating officer, Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. explained the idea behind the contest. “We thought we would do something memorable by creating an online photo album and inviting our guests to share their memories with us. We congratulate Jamie as our grand prize winner and we’re excited that so many of our guests shared their photos with us and that they come to Spaghetti Warehouse as the place…to celebrate being together.”
To enter the contest, guests were invited to register and submit a photo of themselves, their family or friends at a Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant, or in front of a trolley – modeled after its iconic dine-in trolley car – that traveled around the country to many of its restaurant locations as part of a nationwide "Trolley Tour." Upon registering for the contest, each guest received a coupon for a free Bruschetta appetizer.
For Zychowski, winning the prize helps fulfill a "wish" she made to donate to cancer research when she entered the contest after having lunch at the restaurant with a few of her co-workers who, ironically, work alongside one another for the American Cancer Society (ACS). She said that supporting cancer research is something she’s been involved with since she was a teenager and that her family’s lives have been affected by the disease; she lost a beloved grandmother to breast cancer and her father is a skin cancer survivor.
She explained, “My first time at Spaghetti Warehouse will always be one to remember because I won $4,000 after going there for lunch; they really know how to make it a family atmosphere and those are the kinds of places I like to go and enjoy.” In addition to her donation, Zychowski said she also plans to put down some money on a new apartment, pay off some of her student loans and save a little for a trip to Hawaii she’s been planning for with her family.
