GUANGZHOU, China, Nov. 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group Limited ("CMGE" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:CMGE), a leading mobile game company in China, today announced that CMGE has signed a cooperation agreement with The Walt Disney Company (China) ("Disney"). Under this agreement, CMGE has acquired the rights in China for the launch of "Temple Run: Brave" and "Where's My Water?" two of the best-selling mobile games produced by Disney.
The Company will launch the two games in November 2012 through pre-installations on Android smartphones as well as through various websites. "Where's My Water?" will also be distributed through pre-installations on feature phones and through the Company's own feature phone game platform "Aiwan". CMGE and Disney will share the revenue generated by the two games.
"Temple Run: Brave" was originally released in June 2012 and followed the path of its predecessor, "Temple Run," in quickly becoming a bestseller on Apple's App Store following its launch. The Temple Run series provides an unparalleled experience that allows users to run, slide, jump, turn and shoot their way across the wilds of Scotland on an endless running adventure. The sequel adds exciting new characters, features and gameplay that will surely keep users entertained for hours.
"Where's My Water?," a fun, simple - yet challenging - physics-based puzzle game featuring Swampy the Alligator and his quest to take a shower, is one of the top-rated and top-selling apps available today. Since its launch in September 2011, "Where's My Water?" has been No. 1 in 30 different countries.
CMGE is a leading mobile game company in China with the largest market share among mobile game developers in terms of revenues in 2010 and 2011, according to a report prepared in March 2012 by Analysys International, an independent market research firm. CMGE has integrated capabilities in the development, operation, sale and distribution of mobile games in China. Its mobile handset design business complements its game development business as it pre-installs CMGE's mobile games and game platforms in the handsets it designs, and enhances CMGE's knowledge of user habits and preferences and industry trends. CMGE has a large and diversified portfolio of games for feature phones and smartphones, and has strong development capabilities, evidenced by the fact that it develops single-player games and mobile social games for both types of handsets.
