Kinship Celebration Brings Together Community in Support of National Adoption Awareness Month

ORANGE, Calif., Nov. 19, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 300 children, families and community supporters attended the 15th Annual Kinship Celebration Sunday, November 11th in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month. The event recognizes Kinship Center Adoptive Families and all those who support Kinship Center's mission of finding permanent loving homes for children in need.

This year's event featured an Olympic Theme where all of Kinship Center's children and families felt like champions as they participated in games and festivities while enjoying lunch and special entertainment.

Highlights of the event included the reading of the National Adoption Proclamation by Tustin Mayor John Nielsen, a meet and greet with Olympic Gold Medalists Bradley Schumacher and Jason Lezak and a moving testimonial from newly adoptive parents Paul & Tammy LeTourneau. High School Senior Tony Chin-Akers and his adoptive family were honored during the reception receiving the Kinship Star Award for their creation of Tony's Toy Drive, a holiday gift drive that has gained increased momentum over the past several years and supplies toys for each Kinship Center child during the holidays.

A special thank you to event sponsors, I Padrini d'Antonello, the Kinship Center Auxiliary Guild of Orange County and all who helped make this special day possible.

"Our children have been through so much in their young lives and this day of celebration is a unique opportunity for them to have fun with their peers in a supportive, receptive environment", stated Allison Maxon, Division Director of Southern California. "I am moved by the number of community leaders and supporters whose attendance and show of support was overwhelming".
