Totalmovie Presents Internet-Based Live Television Service at TV Connect Latin America

SAO PAULO, Brazil, Dec. 4, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Totalmovie, a Grupo Salinas company, and a leader in online premium on-demand video entertainment, presented the first global Internet-based live television service to audiences at the TV Connect Latin America conference in Sao Paulo. The combined on-demand and live television service will be available to consumers on multiple platforms including the Web (, and Internet-connected devices including TVs, mobile phones, tablets, streaming players and video gaming consoles.

The Totalmovie application will allow users unlimited access to Live TV and an extensive Totalmovie catalog of movies and television series from leading Hollywood, local and independent studios, including Disney, Sony and TV Azteca.

"We demonstrated today, the world's first on-line service that enables users to watch a combination of live television and subscription video-on-demand," said Samer Salameh, Executive Chairman of Totalmovie.

He presented the product interface, allowing the audience to get a first-ever glimpse at on-line TV channels received off-air from Totalmovie's Los Angeles lab and streamed live via the Akamai Content Distribution Network. Technological highlights include a one-half to one-second channel change time, which is about 50% faster than the services currently available from digital cable or satellite systems. The new service also includes Catch-Up TV, which allows viewers to see programs from the previous eight days that are automatically stored on the Totalmovie Cloud, and Network PVR. Mr Salameh demonstrated the product on his mobile device and confirmed that the service will be available in coming months.

Totalmovie is currently contracting with strategic distribution partners to expedite the roll-out of its Internet-based live television service in major emerging markets worldwide. These partners include major telecommunications companies, Internet service providers and pay-TV firms around the world.

Totalmovie remains at the forefront of offering innovative Internet-based entertainment solutions with a firm commitment to delivering "anytime, anyplace" premium video entertainment to consumers. Totalmovie currently has almost 2.0M registered users, and receives 5.0M unique visitors to its website every month, making it the second-largest premium on-demand video service in Latin America.
