SingleCut Beersmiths, First Microbrewery in Queens Since Prohibition, Opens Saturday, December 8th

ASTORIA, New York, Dec. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SingleCut Beersmiths, a craft brewery in Astoria, Queens, will open its doors on Saturday, December 8th. Tastings and tours will begin at noon and continue until 6 pm.

Construction has finally ended on the 5,000 square foot space that now houses the production facility and tap room for SingleCut Beersmiths. Located at 19-33 37th Street on the north side of Astoria, a stones throw from the legendary Steinway & Sons factory; SingleCut will be the first microbrewery to operate in Queens since the days before Prohibition. The brewery will make a selection of lagers and ales and open the tap room for tastings and tours every Thursday and Friday from 5-8pm and Saturdays from noon to 6pm. Additionally growler sales will be available to take home from the brewery.

Aside from hoppy IPAs and amber ales, SingleCut will distinguish itself by making a selection of lagers, a beer almost forgotten in the American craft beer movement. This Saturday they will be pouring two beers. The "19-33 Queens Lagrrr!" is a pilsner style beer that gets its name not only from the brewery's address but also from the year that Prohibition ended. They will also be pouring the "Dean Pacific Northwest Mahogany Ale". These two beers will be available year round along with a selection of IPAs and other lagers.

Ever since the announcement of its location was made in February of this year, the excitement surrounding the opening of SingleCut has been building in Queens. "KUDOS! Queens has needed this for a LONG, LONG time..." says one fan on line. The owner/head brewer Rich Buceta is actually a Queens native, born in Jamaica, and very proud to be bringing business back to his home town. The brewery will produce all its beer on premise in Astoria and has a strong commitment to staying local. "The goal was always to have something that is part of the community," says Rich Buceta. SingleCut, named for a body style of electric guitar, will also have a stage for live music performances during special events and occasional tasting hours.

SingleCut Beersmiths is a new craft brewery in Astoria, Queens owned by Head Brewer – Rich Buceta. The brewery is dedicated to supplying New York City with the high quality locally crafted beers.
