Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism Names New Board Members

OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism announces the appointment of two new board members.

New members include:

Major General LaRita A. "Rita" Aragon currently serves as Oklahoma's Secretary of Veteran Affairs. She is retired United States Air National Guard. Her final active military post was as the Air National Guard assistant to the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff Manpower and Personnel.

First Sergeant Michael B. Treanor currently serves with the Oklahoma Army National Guard 63rd WMD Civil Support Team. He is a highly decorated combat soldier who has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, among others. First Sergeant Treanor also lost his parents and 4 year-old daughter in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

"The staff and current board of the Institute are happy to welcome these new board members who bring of wealth of personal and professional experience to our training mission," said the Institute's Executive Director David Cid. "The Major General's knowledge of military operations will assist as we move forward in diversification of our programs and First Sergeant Michael Treanor's training with the National Guard's 63rd Civil Support Team as well as his experience with the Oklahoma City bombing will add a depth of understanding that is unsurpassed."

The two new members join an existing eleven-member board that oversees the Institute.
