Solera Chairman Ron Montoya Honored With William Funk Award

LAKEWOOD, Colo., March 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Solera National Bank, the subsidiary of Solera National Bancorp, Inc. (OTCQB:SLRK), today announced that Ron Montoya, Chairman of the Board for Solera National Bank, and highly recognized Denver business leader, was bestowed the William Funk Award for Building Stronger Communities by the Colorado Nonprofit Association. This award is presented to individuals with exceptional leadership who help build their community benefiting both Colorado nonprofit organizations and the people they serve. The awards luncheon took place during the annual Nonprofit Week at the Denver Marriott City Center on March 15. Montoya was also recognized for his work with the Latino Community Foundation, which he helped found in 2007 and currently serves as board chair.

"My wife and I have always been interested in helping the communities that have allowed us to thrive, both personally and professionally," said Montoya. "This award is a particularly great honor that will stay with me forever." In January, Montoya was inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame – only the second Latino to receive such an accolade.

The William Funk Award was established in 1991 to honor exceptional leaders, beginning with William Funk himself. As vice president of public affairs for United Banks, Bill Funk always made the nonprofit community and its supporters his highest priority. His vision of corporate giving in the context of building community changed charitable giving in Colorado, and his gifts of time and wise counsel strengthened many community based nonprofits throughout the state. The success of communities and nonprofits relies on leaders and volunteers who unify people and organizations around a cause. The William Funk Award goes to extraordinary leaders who deliver solutions, are eager to do whatever is needed, and understand and respect the many diverse communities of Colorado.

Colorado Nonprofit Week is an annual event that celebrates the vital contributions nonprofit organizations make to communities throughout the state. The week begins with an honorary proclamation from the governor and continues with celebratory events around the state.

"I'm so proud that the Colorado Nonprofit Association has recognized all the great work Ron has done," said Doug Crichfield, President & CEO at Solera National Bank. "He really is a great representative of the bank and exemplifies our mission to be an organization that gives back to our community."
