‘Not Enough Oomph’ in Market: Josh Brown

Beyond company-specific issues in a few stocks, global growth isn't enough for much more upside in stocks, Josh Brown of Fusion Analytics said Thursday.

Investors were looking at the likes of FedEx and Oracle, both of which missed quarterly earnings targets this week, he said. "But you really don't have a great global growth picture."

On CNBC's "Fast Money," Brown cited lackluster PMIs coming out of France and Germany.

"I think that we can look at these little company-specific issues, but truthfully, the big picture, we just don't have enough oomph right now to truly break out to a new range," he said.

OptionMonster's Jon Najarian noted that the "market hasn't fallen apart" despite those missed earnings.

"Some of that is because it's a trade-down going on. Whether it's FedEx and people are trading down, people are trading down," he said. "They don't need it overnight; they can take it a day or two later. That's a trade-down. They don't get the premium price for that."

Investors are hoarding cash, Najarian added.

Simon Baker of Baker Avenue Asset Management called FedEx "a restructuring problem" and Oracle "a problem with sales."

"I think we're in an information-digestion mode right now," he added.
