Time to Reboot Tech Investment: Godfrey

Weakness in technology stocks could be a buying opportunity as businesses look to ramp up spending, Gemma Godfrey of Brooks Macdonald Asset Management said Wednesday.

"The question is: Is it time to reboot that investment?" she said. "It's really underperformed year to date."

On CNBC's "Fast Money," Godfrey noted that the recent market rally had been led by defensive stocks.

But now it was time to exit such sectors as consumer staples and increase technology exposure, she added.

"The technology sector's far from reaching saturation in emerging markets. And crucially as a play on the business cycle, a lot of companies have delayed spending on renewing their infrastructure," she said.

"We actually see it more of a longer-term play and saying that actually with the weak performance it could be a great buying opportunity."
