School of Rock Announces Metal Mike as Guest Professor for Metal Camp

WURTSBORO, N.Y., April 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- If you live, eat, and breathe metal, then School of Rock's Metal Camp: Mayhem In The Mountains will be your ultimate, mind-frying summer camp experience. Metal maniacs ages 12 to 18 from around the world will rock out at the seven day, six night summer shred-fest, which will feature all metal, and nothing but metal.

"Campers will receive expert music instruction everyday on bass, drums, keys, vocals, and guitar that will crank up their skills and take their playing to outrageous new levels that they've never imagined," said Chris Catalano, CEO of School of Rock, a performance based music school franchise with more than 100 locations in 7 countries.

The special guest professor for the week will be the one and only Metal Mike, most commonly known as the affable guitar shredder who records and tours the world with Judas Priest singer Rob Halford. Mike has also toured with Bay Area Thrashers, Testament and Sebastian Bach, the voice of Skid Row. He has also been a cast member of Fuse TV's weekly series "Talking Metal on Fuse" and additionally leads his own solo band.

"Metal Camp touches, bonds and creates great lasting memories for students as well as the instructors," said Metal Mike. "It's not just a camp but rather a mission kids fulfill to learn about and perform the style of music they love and breathe."

Along with School of Rock's superhero staff of face-melting master metal musicians that will share secret tricks, tips and ideas that are exclusively reserved for only the most devoted metal heads, campers will rehearse and jam with their band mates everyday then cap off the week with a live on-stage concert with Metal Mike.
