Sharps Compliance and the National Community Pharmacists Association Support Earth Day With Proper Disposal Option for Unused Medications

HOUSTON, April 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sharps Compliance Corp. (Nasdaq:SMED) in conjunction with the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA®) announces an earth friendly alternative for collecting and disposing unused medications.

In celebration of Earth Day, Monday, April 22, many of the Dispose My Meds community pharmacies are promoting the program and encouraging proper disposal of unused medications utilizing Sharps' TakeAway Environmental Return System™. Check out the online resource at www.disposemymeds.org to search the nearly 1,600 community pharmacies that provide consumers with the safe disposal option in the form of a community return drop-box.

In an ongoing effort, NCPA is encouraging other community pharmacies to voluntarily sign up for the program.
