HOUSTON, April 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global Geophysical Services, Inc. (NYSE:GGS) has been awarded the 2013 E&P Special Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation for its AutoSeis HDR-1C breakthrough nodal technology. The award will be presented to Ralph Muse at the Hart's DUG Bakken Conference in Denver, CO May 29, 2013. In addition to this award, the AutoSeis® HDR-1C will be featured in the May issue of E&P.

Ralph Muse is an industry expert on wireless data communication. He founded RDSeismic LLC in 2008 and it was acquired by Global Geophysical Services in November of 2010 and renamed to AutoSeis Inc. "At the time Global Geophysical had recent experiences with three other wireless seismic systems," Muse says. "They realized it made sense to own their own supplier, have their own technology, and customize it to the specifications developed by experience in the field."

The simplicity and cost effectiveness of AutoSeis has encouraged the rapid adoption of this nodal system by Global's E&P clientele worldwide. With 100% conversion to the AutoSeis nodal systems, Global's field crews have experienced a breakthrough in their performance, with projects consistently producing better data, ahead of schedule.

Tom Fleure, Global's VP of Geophysical Technology, said, "The reliability of this system has resulted in significant performance gains in terms of crew productivity. Also, the autonomous nodal concept has opened up survey design possibilities that are impractical with conventional cabled or radio telemetry systems. This nodal technology has created unlimited channel capacity; the survey design possibilities are truly limitless."

The Hart's Meritorious Award for Engineering Achievement, established in 1971, honors the world's best new technologies and techniques for finding, drilling and producing oil and gas wells. The receipt of a meritorious engineering achievement award marks a company as a technology leader in the upstream oil and gas industry. Entries are judged by a panel of globally recognized industry experts on their innovation of concept or design; their ability to solve a real, practical oilfield problem; and their potential for improving profitability, safety or efficiency.
