OAK HARBOR, Wash., April 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Washington Banking Company (Nasdaq:WBCO), the holding company for Whidbey Island Bank, announced today that the Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.15 per common share to shareholders of record on May 6th and payable on May 20, 2013.
"Our consistent profitability allows us to reward shareholders with a cash dividend for the 60th consecutive quarter," stated Jack Wagner, President & CEO. "We earned thirty cents per share in the first quarter and, using our two-tiered approach, we increased the amount of the basic dividend portion to seven cents and are adding eight cents as a variable amount. The total dividend payout equates to 50% of our quarterly earnings."
The payment of dividends is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors and will depend upon a number of factors, including capital requirements, the Company's and the Bank's financial condition and results of operations, tax considerations, statutory and regulatory limitations, general economic conditions and any applicable restrictions.
In a separate release today, Washington Banking announced 2013 first quarter results, reporting net income of $4.6 million, or $0.30 per diluted common share.
