ARLINGTON, Va., April 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) launched a new web video titled "Mr. President, Leadership Matters." This call-to-action web video (runtime :31) calls on President Obama to stop making excuses and start delivering results to fix the claims backlog at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and to relieve Secretary Eric Shinseki of his leadership position at the department.

Quick facts:

  • In 2009, there were 164,000 backlogged VA compensation claims that total now 630,000, a 2000 percent increase in just four years.
  • 53 vets die every day waiting for their claims.
  • 70 percent of claims backlogged are 125 days or longer.
  • 9.4 percent unemployment for post- 9/11 vets.

"…normally when I have run into situations like this, this is a leadership issue." –VA Secretary Eric Shinseki

CVA recently launched MillionVetBacklog.com which includes a petition calling on President Obama to fix the VA backlog and relieve Secretary Shinseki.
