NEW YORK, May 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALM, a leading provider of news and business information to the legal and real estate industries, today announced that Aric Press has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president, editor-in-chief of the company.

Press is one of the foremost legal journalists in the U.S. After a 19-year career as a writer and editor at Newsweek, he became the editor-in-chief of The American Lawyer in 1998. In 2010, he was named vice president and editor-in-chief of ALM, overseeing editorial operations for the company's national publications. Last year, he received the 44th Annual G.D. Crain, Jr. Award, presented annually by American Business Media to an outstanding business journalist for editorial excellence. Press is a graduate of Cornell University and New York University Law School.
"Aric's leadership in this new position will help ALM deliver more substantive business information and competitive intelligence to assist legal organizations and leaders in the practice of management," said Carter.
Carter appointed David Brown, editor-in-chief of The National Law Journal and executive editor at ALM, to replace Press as vice president, editor-in-chief of ALM. In this new role, Brown will assume full responsibility for ALM's national editorial organization and will oversee the day-to-day editorial operations for all of ALM's national media products.
Brown began his career as a local newspaper reporter in Northern California before joining the editorial staff of The Recorder, a legal newspaper in California, in 1999. He subsequently served as executive editor of The American Lawyer and editor-in-chief of The Legal Times before assuming the role of editor-in-chief of The National Law Journal in 2009. Brown earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and a graduate degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois.
