NEW YORK, May 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kognitio, driving the convergence of Big Data, in-memory analytics and cloud computing, today announced that it has been named to UBM Tech Channel's inaugural CRN 2013 Big Data 100 list. The award recognizes companies innovating in Big Data technology and covers three categories: business analytics, data management and infrastructure and services. Kognitio was honored for its work in Big Data business analytics; the magazine noted that Kognitio "can run both on-premise and in a public or private cloud as a Platform-as-a-Service and is compatible with most ETL and business intelligence solutions available today."
"The 2013 Big Data 100 list recognizes vendors that have shown a dedication to the innovation and advancement of today's Big Data services, and have evolved to meet the needs of today's business leaders," said Kelley Damore, senior vice president and editorial director, CRN. "Companies need technologies that not only help them process and manage all that data, but also offer market insights. The Big Data 100 vendors set themselves apart with the cutting edge products and services that provide significant growth opportunities for solution providers to build their business and effectively compete in today's information economy."
Kognitio recently reported a record-setting year, doubling its bookings in FY13, growing at a year-over-year rate of 99.2 percent, and reported revenue numbers for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year that were 69 percent higher than the third quarter, and 48 percent higher than for the same period last year. It attributed its performance to increased interest in business analytics, especially by smaller- and mid-tier firms, which drove greater demand for the Kognitio Cloud solution. The Kognitio Cloud enables firms to gain greater insights from vast amounts of Big Data at a fraction of time cost and in a fraction of the time required by competing, more traditional business intelligence solutions.
"Honors such as being named to CRN Magazine's inaugural list validate the work Kognitio has been pioneering for a generation," said Steve Millard, Kognitio president and chief executive officer. "Big Data has pushed the need for an analytical platform, and our innovative in-memory solution puts us in a privileged position—it is very rewarding to see how companies are adopting it to do business more profitably, understanding and anticipating the trends that will keep them ahead of their competitors."
Selected by CRN's editorial staff, the 2013 Big Data 100 list was featured in the April issue of CRN Magazine and is featured online at www.crn.com.
