MIAMI LAKES, Fla., May 10, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altegra Health, a leading provider of technology-enabled business solutions for healthcare organizations, today announced the acquisition of the Healthcare Analytics business unit of TransUnion.
Based in Chicago, the Healthcare Analytics unit (HCA) provides health plans, providers, and accountable care organizations (ACOs) access to a robust and dynamic library of quality metrics, performance analytics, and care management tools. The acquisition continues to position Altegra Health as a leader in providing solutions that enhance quality, strengthen compliance, and improve the overall performance of healthcare organizations.
With the closing of the transaction, the HCA offerings join Altegra Health's other Healthcare Enhancement technology solutions and services, focused on enhancing care and quality. Together, these solutions will help health plans and risk-bearing providers gain a deeper understanding of their members' health and how care is delivered in order to bring together the right benefits, the right care, and the right reimbursement.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for the Healthcare Analytics unit," said Brian Foy, Director, Healthcare Analytics of HCA. "Joining with Altegra Health will allow us to offer clients a much broader and comprehensive array of services complimentary to our own. We are proud to become a part of this industry-leading company as we focus our energy on continued innovations and delivering for our clients and their members."
HCA, originally ManagedCare.com, was established in 1995 as a consulting business providing insight for healthcare organizations looking for ways to contain costs and identify poor utilization trends. The company expanded into care/case management reporting, including HEDIS® and California Pay-for-Performance (P4P) measurements which have been NCQA-certified since 2006. The company's success led to the development of one of the first Single Sign-On (SSO) interfaces which enabled a controlled level of healthcare analytics to be opened up to provider groups and other entities.
"We're extremely proud to welcome the Healthcare Analytics team. Its products provide robust reporting and responsive solutions to the healthcare industry," said Kevin Barrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Altegra Health. "With the market-leading services and technologies we already have in place, bringing on another industry leader will enhance our position as the most trusted and valued partner in meeting our healthcare clients' needs."
