GUANGZHOU, China, May 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group Limited ("CMGE" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:CMGE), a leading mobile game company in China, announced that it will soon release 'War Valley,' 'Xiang mo Shen Hua,' and 'Immortal Wind,' all proprietary mobiles games for both Android and iOS-based platforms. The announcement was made at a press conference held during the Global Mobile Games Congress ("GMGC") and Global Mobile Internet Conference ("GMIC") in Beijing, which took place on from May 6 - 8, 2013.
CMGE's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ken Xiao, who was a key speaker at the conferences, shared his views on the future of the mobile games industry to an audience of thousands of participants.
All three new MMORPG games will be launched and available through the Company's proprietary Android-based Game Center application, which connects users with games developed and/or operated by CMGE.
'War Valley' is a heavy MMORPG social game set against a backdrop of a western fantasy myth. Through exploration, players gradually customize and develop their characters as the game evolves. Revenue is generated through the in-game sale of virtual items. 'War Valley' will begin the second round of closed beta testing in June 2013.
In a demonstration of its future potential, 'War Valley' received two awards: the Online Game Award for Excellence at the GMGC and the Top 10 Mobile Game at the GMIC. Along with the Golden Apple Award for Best Game presented to "Joyful Zha Jin Hua," the Company has received three national top mobile game awards this year.
'Xiang Mo Shen Hua' is an MMORPG social game jointly developed by CMGE and Guangzhou Feiyin, a leading Chinese web game developer. Set against the backdrop of an ancient fantasy world, the game includes various new features, including equipment assembly, pet raising, instance adventures, massive combat sequences and a variety of different character classes. Revenue is generated through the in-game sale of virtual items. 'Xiang Mo Shen Hua' will begin closed beta testing in May 2013 and will be distributed through multiple applications, including CMGE's proprietary Game Center Application.
'Immortal Wind' is an RPG social game based on the ancient Chinese legend of Shanhai Jing. The game immerses users into a magnificent and romantic fantasy world filled with ancient Chinese legends and culture. The game also pioneers the incorporation of a voice chat function; the first Chinese mobile game to do so. Revenue is generated through the in-game sale of virtual items. 'Immortal Wind' will begin closed beta testing in July 2013.
"I am extremely pleased to announce the launch of these exciting new games in the coming months," commented Mr. Ken Jian Xiao, Chief Executive Officer of China Mobile Games. "We have always strived to develop and distribute the most creative and compelling new content possible. The launch of these proprietary games, as well as a dozen others that we expect to launch later this year, forms an integral part of our strategy as we seek to introduce new content to a new generation of players and capture the significant growth opportunities emerging in smartphone games."
CMGE is a leading mobile game company in China with the largest market share among mobile game developers in terms of revenues in 2010, 2011 and 2012, according to Analysys International, an independent market research firm. CMGE has integrated capabilities in the development, operation, sale and distribution of mobile games in China. Its mobile handset design business complements its game development business as it pre-installs CMGE's mobile games and game platforms in the handsets it designs, and enhances CMGE's knowledge of user habits and preferences and industry trends. CMGE has a large and diversified portfolio of games for smartphones and feature phones, and has strong development capabilities, evidenced by the fact that it develops single-player games and social games for both types of handsets.
