Student Employee at Interorbital Systems to Receive 2013 SSPI Southern California Scholarship

LONG BEACH, Calif., May 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SPACE TECH EXPO 2013 -- The Southern California Chapter of Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) today announced Louie Alcantara Donesa as the 2013 recipient of the SSPI Southern California Scholarship.

The scholarship will be presented to Donesa at the Space Tech Expo (www.spacetechexpo.com) in Long Beach, California during the free-to-attend Satellite & Space Summit 12:10 session on May 21 by Bobby Stevens, National Sales Manager for The Space Connections, Inc. and President of the Southern California Chapter of SSPI. The summit is available to registered attendees of Space Tech Expo.

The SSPI Southern California Scholarship is given to an individual who is currently an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the Southern California University System. Eligible applicants must be in the satellite communications or related field of study and meet rigorous academic and other standards.

Mr. Donesa is enrolled in the Astronautical Engineering program at UCLA Extension. Since joining Interorbital Systems, a satellite kit developer and rocket manufacturing company, in 2012 as an Aerospace Engineer, Mr. Donesa has worked on orbital elements, launch crew training, and the trajectory analysis of Interorbital's NEPTUNE family of orbital launch vehicles. In addition to sourcing components for the CubeSat and TubeSats programs, Mr. Donesa commutes to Mojave daily, a nearly 200-mile round trip to his full-time engineering duties with Interorbital. His studies are graduate level Aerospace Engineering courses at UCLA.
